I'm Gautam Desai, and I'm currently a sophomore at the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology, as well as the founder of Kids for Chess. I myself was fortunate enough to have grown up with an extended family of experienced chess players, who taught me new chess techniques, and my parents even hired a GrandMaster to teach me how to advance my skills at the game at an early age. All of these privileges, which I am extremely grateful for, allowed me to reap the benefits of the activity by winning games across Metro Atlanta. However, many other kids are missing out on this positive influence in their lives, and the Kids for Chess organization will help them with increasing brain development, improving their strategic-thinking skills, and even increasing their IQ. I now also want to give back to the local community in a way that I know will greatly benefit developing young minds, and their needs, who are the next generation. In addition, I will utilize all profits from the chess summer programs to donate to a local charity which help with the needs of underprivileged children.
